I’m looking at various options to retrofit an old LMI graver with a Synrad 48-5 laser. What kind of speeds can one expect when rastering with the various controller options? Going to start with vector cutting with an old Nano but what can one expect when rastering with GRBL or something like G2/smoothie? 1000mm/sec+ possible?

A lot will depend on the existing motion control hardware…the steppers/servos, type of linear rail etc. Not sure that you would be able to raster at that speed, maybe +Peter van der Walt can shed some informed advice on this?
