I'm looking for a affordable powder base 3D printer.

I’m looking for a affordable powder base 3D printer. Anything out there under 1500$ USD. Also I live in Canada. This is for my school to print 3d sculpture of my students works. I would like them to have a printed model of their work. Thanks.

No chance of getting a powder printer for that kind of money. They are currently in the 10,000 plus range.
For 1500 you could get a cheaper DLP kit of a conventional fdm bot like a printrbot.

Can you send my a link? Thank you

@jeremie_laflamme a link to what? What printer you get depends a lot on what quality you want, durability, maximum build size, etc.

3D systems announced some over a year ago that I think were supposed to be in the 3-5K range, but last I heard they still hadn’t shipped.

Sorry Jeremie, nothing at that price point, was looking for one a month or two ago for work.

@jeremie_laflamme if you could find another 500, you could afford a zortrax m200 which will produce some pretty good quality fdm prints. https://zortrax.com

What about the sandbox project

@jeremie_laflamme I don’t think the sandbox is really stable right now. It really needs to switch over to sintering instead of ink. Also, the firmware was written for a school project, and I haven’t touched it since… (not really planning to for a while)

@Justin_Nesselrotte :frowning: I was hoping… this is for school and powder is the best for 3d characters

@jeremie_laflamme as of now, Plan B is probably your best bet.

@Justin_Nesselrotte Can It be bought already built? The Kit experience was a very bad one… lol as you can see from what we have… and the results

@jeremie_laflamme I’m not sure what you’re referring to for the kit experience, but no, there is no powder printer that’s fully assembled in that budget range.

On that note, does anyone know how much the blue printer costs?

@Justin_Nesselrotte OK I will do more research and post my findings.
