I’m looking for some feedback for the latest beta version (V1.55),
Please try-out and let me know if it works well. Thanks.
I plan to promote the beta to production by the end of the week.

My second test print worked great, still learning how to use the app having only just got it but so glad I can now print using my phablet, I have just about given up trying to get pronterface to run on my raspberry pi. It would be nice if the print control buttons could be bigger, it looks like there is some free space.

@Gary_Durey Thanks. The layout and button size depends on the acual android device. On some devices there is no free space anymore, on others there is still plenty of space. Please post a screenshot and the device model and I can see if I can improve it. If you have rooted your device you could also modify the DPI values to get larger buttons.

Would love to test it. Can you direct me to the link? Thanks

@Erwin_Felisarta to test the beta you just need to opt-in here:
ust opt-in here:
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/de.dietzm.gcodesimulatorprinter
Once you did that, the beta version should appear as a normal App update

Ok, looks like I’m already listed as a tester. Just want to confirm, when downloading the beta, it’s also a paid version?

@Erwin_Felisarta yes, you need to have the paid version installed already. There is another link for the free version beta (without printing).

Ah ok. Thanks will try it out later when I m home.

Well I finally worked out how to upload to SD card, it’s only taken all day DOH! (8.3) actually means 8 characters plus 3 characters for file names. Not 4 or 5 or 6 but must be 8. Checked the auto start option and it all started printing. The second SD button works fine, no problems with that althou the phablet showed a time out error while waiting for the heat bed to warm up, but it did not cause anything to stop working and the print finished. How do I change the “price” figure and it also says 3mm filament but I am using 1.75 and all my setting are correct for 1.75mm.

Wrote this too soon. upload to SD card stopped printing when I unpluged the phablet so it was not printing from the file I just uploaded but direct from the phablet.

@Gary_Durey really, my marlin firmware accepts 5.2 names as well.
Timeouts can happen if the gcode execution takes longer, for some longer moves it is normal. I should suppress the message, but it helps debugging in cases where the timeout is not expected.
hm, the price is hardcoded and I try to guess the filament diameter. I need to add options to be able to configure it.

@Gary_Durey depending on the printer electronics you can not unplug the device because the Arduino is powered up via USB. A powered hub could help.

My reprap uses the Melzi controller which has it’s own power supply so if you are printing from sd card you can unplug the PC or tablet and it will finish the print without needing to be connected. Not sure what is happening with the first SD button on your app, when I looked at the card in the printer it had written the file to the card using shorter names but your app said file write error. I have video taped it so will try and upload something soon.

The app just sends the command “m28 filename”, if you see an open failed message then this error comes from the firmware. The app version is 1.55, right ?
The console output would be helpful !
