I’m planning a new project driving 8 strings of 240, WS2812B dots for a total of 960 dots. I’m going to be using a teensy3.5. I’d like tips for how to hook this up. I understand the library has a way to optimize for parallel outputs.
I’m sorry Chuck but i don’t think that the teensy 3.5 is supported yet. As far as I know the library only supports Teensys up to and including 3.2
OK, I can use 3.2. Same question applies.
I’d consider using one of these if you only want to drive eight strings. There’s loads of information on the PJRC site.
Looks good. The real tip in here is this https://www.pjrc.com/teensy/td_libs_OctoWS2811.html
OctoWS2811 definitely works with Teensy 3.5 & 3.6. The new boards are longer, so extra tall pins (or pins+sockets) are needed to position it higher so it clears those 2 RJ45 jacks. But FastLED might not fully support the new boards yet, so if you need the great drawing/rendering features of FastLED, probably safest to go with the older board.
The real tip is to combine the OctoWS2811 adapter with FastLED, see below
