I’m planning to have this #XCarriage (SCOUTcorexy XY_Stage XCarriage !!10mm!! YCarriage 10mm HorizontalRods SingleHotend by florinf-ro - Thingiverse) done for #SCOUTcorexy and I am not sure how to wire the 4 fans to the Ramps Board. Does it even have enough connectors for the 4 fans or would I have to serialize them somehow?
I’ve seen mostly setups with 2 blower fans for the part cooling and one for the hotend cooling but even for that setup I am not sure how is it done on the Ramps side.
DO all the fans run at the same time? If so just wire them in parallel, but do not exceed the current limit.
I believe the hotend fans should go straight to the 12V on the PSU and the two blower fans will go to ramps. The blowers will only run as the firmware commands them to.
But I am not elecronics-literate so I don’t really know how to connect the coldend axial fans to the same 12 pair at the PSU…
take the red wire from each fan and strip the ends and twist together then connect the pair to the positive terminal. Do the same with the black wires and connect to the negative terminal.
I only know of 2 fan connections on my ramps one for the Hotend and the other to be programmed however needed for print cooling.
Do what @Florian_Ford said. You want your hot end fans on all the time, and the part cooling fans on only when needed.
Did You think about airflow? Where does the hot end cooling air come out?
The blowers take air from outside and the axial fans take it from one side and spill it off on the other side (the two axial fans are not blowing both of them towards teh hotend).
