I'm taking the parts from my Big Build Volume Herculean kinda printer and reusing

I’m taking the parts from my Big Build Volume Herculean kinda printer and reusing them for my next build (I was never happy with my Z-Stage…mostly because my build plate (6mm MIC6) weighed a TON…3-d printed z-stage parts would deform over time due to the weight…so I’m making THAT stationary and building a Kossel XL like thing.

The problem is the effector. The Prusa has spoiled me for mesh bed levelling and I want to make sure the next printer has it too. IR, Microswitch or Inductive, I don’t much care.

What I’m finding is: Effector designs are either simple, and missing major features (like parts cooling), or complex…and don’t fit an e3dv6. I’ve printed two thusfar and I just can’t make 'em work.

Any recommendations for an effector that:
Works with an e3dv6
*has seperate cooling for the hot end and parts
*has some kind of bed levelling
(optional) doesn’t suck up 50 mm of build volume
*you’ve actually tested it and it works as built

I’m not against throwing everything out and building my own whole-cloth, but there’s an inherent R&D load involved in that.

dont know about effectors but what size are the rails?

440mm, iirc

Scratch that…450mm, from ywsbearing.cn, about $100 USD shipped.

mgn12?

@Cristian_Nicola yup!

thank you. i am looking for a new build and dont know if to go for mgn9 or mgn12

depends on how crazy would you like to with cooling…

this was my never published prototype, unfortunately no leveling probe… it was designed to be fitted on geeetech g2/s pro effector, so not directly compatible with E3d but you could make additional adapter.

just as an idea

@Marko_Novak that black tube thing is an extractor or cooling?

@Cristian_Nicola it’s ducting for cooling, there’s industrial 80mm fan on top.

there was so much airflow, that standard delta heater (140w) wouldn’t go above 80C.

thing was spitting PLA like champ.
but temp needs for ABS was just to much for then un-isolated heating block and bed with high thermal conductivity.
but if you can make ABS stick and reliably remove, on cold bed… this is it  stiff frame mandatory.

to get better idea of insides…
