I’m trying to set up Chilipeppr with GRBL 1.1e using Edge and Chrome browsers.

I have successfully set up serial port JSON and connect to my Arduino through Chilipeppr. When I press play on the GRBL workspace, the stepper motors move (the CNC machine is not quite complete but I have the stepper motor connected). Jog also works. However, there is no updating of the federate, etc., under the GRBL widget area, except for STATE and SPJS. Additionally, on the AXIS widget, there is no update. NAN.000 is displayed for all the AXIS’s. What is the issue?

The grbl workspace only supports 0.9j and below.
There is an experimental workspace that supports 1.x at
/jpadie.

Why not 1.1f?

Didn’t know 1.1f was out. Does it work for you?

Yeah. The 10x10 inch space that I have for cutting make me much less able to use the build space though, so I have not used it much. Just some test cuts so far.

@NathanielStenzel , do you have your position, feedrate, etc., being updated in chili Pepper?

I have to use http://chilipeppr.com/jpadie because http://chilipeppr.com/grbl will not show the coordinates and such. GRBL1.0 changed the layout. I do not know of any update to the grbl plugin to fix that either. I think I might have been using http://chilipeppr.com.grbl to update firmware after referening the new variable positions on a website. I think jpadie was not letting me update firmware settings.
If you check my posts from a month ago, you may spot the steps per mm settings or x,y,z.

My workspace should let you update settings. If there is a bug let me know and I will fix. I don’t have an arduino with me at the moment and won’t for a week or so, so please give as much info as you can in the bug report.

@Justin_Adie you are the person behind jpadie then?

Yes. It is my name and initials! Nothing sinister!

Although it is “my” workspace the grbl plugin and other bits were modified jointly with @Luca_Nervetti . So it is as much his effort as mine.

@Justin_Adie thanks for the chilipeppr workspace then. I like it.
As for bugs, I think the submit button was missing when I tried it. I was using a Chrome browser.

There should have been a submit button. But actually i ignore it in the code and the settings are pushed into a queue on a change event. If you toggle verbose mode you should see the commands being sent at irregular intervals. I have long wanted to replace the UI with a more descriptive and logically laid out alternative. And tried a number of variations (tabs and accordions etc). Not yet hit upon one i like. Happy to take requests!

Well, thank you @Luca_Nervetti1 too then.

there was a bug that stopped the submit button from being appended to the visible DOM. hopefully squished now. but as I posted above, the save button should not be needed - all changes are queued the moment the field is ‘blurred’ (so losing focus). on save, the dialog should not disappear until the changes have been sent to the controller.

there is still more work to be done on this of course.

Let me know if anything is still bust.

@Justin_Adie will do if I remember the next time I turn it on. I kind of need a larger build area to make more things that I want to make. That or make more progress on my bucket_mill project. Look on github if you are curious about that.
