Instead of plastic threading for attaching PTFE retainers, captured nuts seems to be a better solution.
Great idea! You could also do captured PTFE retainers to further simplify.

@Mark_Fuller I thought about that, but my poor quality PTFE connectors are ‘push on, never off’ - they are nearly impossible to remove once attached to the PTFE.
This is my best compromise so far.
@Jason_McMullan I just found that out today… “are those… bits of metal!!!” ripped the metal retainer teeth out trying to remove the PTFE tube. Argh down to one spare! Time to order parts!
@Jason_McMullan , could you share the part? I designed a plastic only version of this but you are right that it doesn’t work. After 15 minutes of printing the force pulled the whole thing apart :s
