Instead of wrapping my extra 5-meter APA-102 strip around the tree I made a tree topper! It looks wicked. To make it I just attached a four-inch long bit of PVC via a coupling to the top of the existing pole and wrapped the strip around a 90° fitting.

The (bizarre) wind has bent my tree a bit out of shape but I’ll fix that tomorrow.

For reference I tried the ColorTwinkle (aka Holiday Twinkle) code and it just looked… Weird. I think it’s just not meant for this kind of application. It would be much better suited for a flat layout or a grid.

Nice. I just picked up a fresh roll of APA102’s and should try that out on our tree. .
