IPG PRO-MASK BLUE TAPE

I have been using 3M Blue Tape until the last few days when I ran out and picked up this ipg PRO-MASK BLUE tape from Home Hardware. And I have to say, this stuff is amazing with PLA. I haven’t tested with ABS or PETG yet, but I suspect similar results. The first layer in a print sticks like crazy to this stuff!! And that on a cold bed! (I don’t have a heated bed).

So I thought I’d share my experience.

I use 3M now and can’t imagine the print sticking any harder; as it is I could easily lift the whole printer by the piece stuck to the bed, and have to work at it with a thin knife for awhile to get it off.

But I have been wiping the tape down with isopropyl alcohol, which makes it adhere much stronger.

I’ve found I’ve really had to have the hotend smush the first layer into the 3M blue tape to get good adhesion. With the IPG tape, it seems to stick well even if there is some extra gap.
