Is it possible to have a thumb view of your STL files in Windows

Is it possible to have a thumb view of your STL files in Windows Explorer. I have a number of them saved under a folder and when I am going through the folder I have to click and open the STL ( Netfabb ) to view the part.
I would like to view the part like you do with photos.
Thanks

Alternatively you could actually name the files as something more memorable than “model1.stl”…

Just a thought…

The problem is I donwload a file when I see a interesting item etc. So you build up a collection. I know I should manage the file system better. Its just so easy to Pre-view the item. Also people don’t seem to have the sense to name the file appropriately. Thanks anyway. I find it amassing that it can not be down as yet.

@Vaughan_Lundin I have Autodesk inventor installed on my computer, and I get exactly what you are asking for, I think if you install the right software you will get the functionality you are after.
Mind you I place any files I download into a folder that is named clearly, this folder may be within a series of folders that let me drill down to the file I am looking for. I have found (after using the dump everything and sort it out later approach) that the few seconds it takes to create a folder with a meaningful name (if it doesn’t already exist) when saving a file saves me hours of searching and frustration later.

i am interested in preview aswell. Let me know if u find a solution…

I should try Autodesk and see if it works with mine. Thanks @Richard_Earl
