Is the itopie a good printer? I know @Thomas_Sanladerer built one but he did not do a review.
I’m not trying to endorse myself but,
Would anyone be interested in any iTopie frames? I was thinking about routing a couple and if I am routing two I could throw on more anyways. I could probably ship anywhere in the US or Canada.
What would be a good price point? I’m not doing this for profit necessarily.
@ThantiK Great, I was not sure what the rules were about selling/seeing interest. I think this community is fantastic and have suggested joining to many people!
I think i’ve commented something along these lines somewhere else recently, but can’t find it: The iTopie is a great machine, the wooden frame is super stiff, but i would recommend replacing the X-axis (or at least the carriage and extruder) with the i3 MK2 parts, that way you get the important bits in a “standard” style and don’t need to worry about finding a matching extruder and part cooling fan.
The iTopie is in general exactly what other DIY kits are: a blank canvas for you to draw on. The way you build the printer and the parts you choose will have an enormous impact on how your printer will perform and how well it will last.
I didn’t feel like a DIY project would be something to review, but i guess a review-style summary of the decisions made can’t hurt
Thank You @Thomas_Sanladerer for the answer. I love how the community is so helpful in many regards. I have enjoyed all your videos and would love it if you, or your padawan, covered the iTopie. Seeing how others put together custom builds is educational and helpful when planning our own build! I am sure it would be helpful to many people!
