Is there a good program for modifying how 3d objects are aligned… I want to snap a model to the “bed” because it’s floating in mid air when I import the model… this is actually for a 2.5d cnc router carve but I figure you guys are the best at working with 3d object… Thanks in advance any help is appreciated

The object is floating at a strange angle to the bed plane…Basically I need to slice the object in half, align the two pieces flat to the bed and then export the object to cnc router the two pieces to be able to join together… I know this isn’t a 3d print issue, but I’m trying to obtain the skills needed to apply this to 3d printing, for when my PrintrBot arrives, but until then the closest I can come to creating a real object from this process is with 2.5d milling on my Ox router

I have managed to get it close but there is a slight misalignment of the 3d model still. I need to get the best alignment I can to make sure the objects glue together properly. I am grasping for help because this is for a child’s Halloween costume prop. I’m making a wooden sword based off of Links sword from Legend of Zelda : ocarana of time

Yeah, I tried to do this with a Halloween skull, but could not get it to cut at a plane in Meshmixer. I can do it in my CAD system, easy.
Alex, if you want I can do it for you. I know that defeats the idea of learning, but it will get the sword made.

The end of the comments in this post might have a solution to cutting a model in 1/2 using Blender:

Post #15 and on helped me.
If you have Win10 then the program “3D Builder” can be used to orient and place a model on the “bed”.
