Is there a trick for smoothing the top of pieces in an Acetone vapor bath?
I’m learning about vapor smoothing ABS Prints in a cold Acetone bath. This is my first test piece. It’s a cube of approximately 1.5".
The sides smoothed nicely but the top still shows extrusion lines. I did this in a baby food jar with a piece of Acetone soaked paper towel on the sides. Should I have added a piece under the lid so that fumes descend on the part? Looking to learn from others. Tips/advice welcome
Looks like you need more top solid layers. If there are holes in your surface when you try smoothing, vapor will get inside and weaken it, and probably never find its way out.
