Is this the closest 3D printer to TAZ 5 3D printer?

Why do you want a printer that’s close to a TAZ 5, but not the taz itself?

Like to build a TAZ 5. Do you know if some one did a youtube on building a TAZ 5 from scratch?

They have a whole 3d printed parts repository somewhere.

Just finished building wilson ts and I looked at the link from comment above and I don’t see any similarity in terms of overall frame built other than they both use 2020…

How did it turn out? Did you build it with a heated bed?

@Step_Cia What do you think it cost you in parts?

Cost around $500 bought the kit straight from the wilson creator including heated bed and auto bed leveling sensor.

I wouldn’t compare what I have with Taz5 though… They are completely different quality and the price point speaks for itself…

I’m happy with mine but I can see that there are a lot of improvement I need to make in addition to what the kit offer.

Not even close to the taz. This is basically an i3.

@John_Car have you checked out what @Maker_s_Tool_Works has to offer?

@Isaac_Arciaga It looks nice. So many choices and options. Really looking for some thing with a large print bed heated and not to difficult to reproduce the printed parts. Also has to have a really stiff and solid frame

@John_Car even though Wilson uses 2020, it is not a “boxed” frame. Imagine an inverted “T” the top is not constrained like a box so in this way, it is not as solid and stiff as I wanted it to be. You get a lot of vibration this way.

@Nathan_Walkner in my mind, the price of the printer is worth it for what you get, not just from the machine but support and everything. They even send a bag of tools with your printer.

@John_Car MTW printers have very few printed parts and are very small, non structural printed parts. Their live support on IRC is really good. There’s always at least 1 MTW rep chatting away all day every day and night to help their customers building their kits. They’ve got a web portal directly to their IRC channel linked on their website. Check it out - http://makerstoolworks.com/community/webchat/
