It has been a very long process but my smartrap is finally printing!!!
I had to go to the stock marlin and put in my parameters. It’s a fun project and a simple mechanical build!!
Stay posted for more parts to be printed very soon!!
Thanks for the great design @Smartfriendz_3d_prin
And especially @Javier_Prieto
Couldn’t have done it without you guys!!!
Maan! Dont make me blush! You are going to be the next King of Code
The only thing it needs is a LCD
And what are the prints like. It’s been a while to get it going. Most people think a 3d printer is easy to build because the mechanics are so straight forward. Then they get to the firmware and setup. I see yoy reprinted the Z axiz any reason in particular?
@Javier_Prieto man I hope so!! And haha yes the lcd will be coming shortly!
@Michael_Scholtz I completely agree. I am a fairly mechanically inclined person so I put the mechanics together with no issues. But when it came to the firmware the learning curve really hit. Last year I was going to buy a really nice kit to build quickly but after having built a reprap I would say that it is the best approach of them all. The things you learn are far beyond what you could with a kit in my opinion.
And yes I switched to red to show my parts that have been changed since I initially printed the plates a couple of months ago. The main piece that I believe is the x base was reprinted simply because the green one that I had had too much torsion in it. The printer that I used to print this printer was a Cube 2 which is very proprietary. You can only choose 3 levels of infill: hollow, about 10%, and almost solid. Due to the cost of the cartridges I initially printed all of the pieces in 10% but that piece could not handle the stress so I reprinted it in the almost solid setting.
Now I did reprint the z but for the fact that it was made for an m5 threaded rod and I live in the US where we still use imperial for some reason. So I redrew all the z axis to work with a standard threaded rod and standard sized nuts.
The print quality was not too bad but I can’t figure out the command for autoleveling and where to put it in the gcode. Otherwise I think it would print even better.
