It lives! 576 pixels and a maximum so far of about 110W (measured at the wall)
And, having left it on like this running full-bore for ten minutes I see some smoke coming out of something. BRB.

/fingers crossed/
A couple of odd colored ones but otherwise it looks great. Hopefully you didn’t burn anything.
Heh. Worked it out—the 30cm of 18AWG between the PSU and where it splits off to the power bus. Quite warm and tacky to the touch :-). I have some 4mm wire and an XT60 connector, but I’m buggered if I can solder the damn stuff. Just too big.
Ok, new power cable (~11 AWG) and I’m pulling 155W from the wall, screw the XT60. I’ll leave it on for ten minutes and see how warm it gets this time.
Next one I build I’m going to add a great-big fuck-off knife switch :-).

Are the weird looking pixels in the picture related to the fact that they are burnt or just a visual anomaly? /fingers still crossed/
Half maybe some kind of power flakiness and half exaggerated by the camera. I’ve had it on for about half an hour now and it’s all a nice even white and nothing is on fire. Gonna chalk that up as a win.
Congrats! Now that it works, what are you gonna use it for?
How’s the heat generated? Minimal?
Heat out of the panel itself? Minimal. The PSU was relatively warm to the touch; the 5V power cable, a tiny bit warm but not in any way problematic.
It’s a gift for my GF, it’s going on her wall :-). It will be running off a Yun so the plan is to do cute things remotely (she lives in a different city). Ultimately also a test-bed for me for the software I’m writing, which will also power the wearable I’m building for the Burn this year.
Boyfriend of the year ole chap!
