It seems as though every time I load a new file into lw4 it moves higher and higher on the Y axis. I have it at 0,0 relative the page in inkscape. I thought it should come into lw at 0,0 as well. Any ideas?
Please post the file
Hi @Todd_Fleming , here’s the link:
The values in that file’s header are very odd. Also, Inkscape’s Path->Simplify command messes it up badly. Did you create the file initially in Inkscape, or import from a different app?
Here’s a work around that repairs the file. Copy the objects to the clipboard. Create a new file. Paste the objects into the new file. File -> Document Properties. Expand “Resize page to content”. Click “Resize page to drawing or selection”. Save.
Above procedure is in Inkscape.
Well I initially did not in coreldraw. And an hour ago bought adobe illustrator. I imported the file, resized and saved as a new svg and it’s perfect (so far). There something in corel that’s not right (compatible). I also struggled with inkscape though. I thank you for your help and will report back when I see if this current job goes well.
same as me, even i set 0,0 my image inkscape, only Y offset
@adam_ian try the repair approach I posted above. I’m starting to suspect we’ll have to make it a standard procedure when coming from Corel.
I have similar issue importing .svg files exported by Core Draw (x8). After import to lw4, I just manually zero the Y offset in the coordinate box and image pops into work area.
It turns out Corel’s weird, but within the SVG spec, unit handling triggers a bug. https://github.com/LaserWeb/LaserWeb4/issues/223
That’s good to know @Todd_Fleming , I thought I was just crazy. Lol.
Just a side note that the default origin points are opposite on the Y axis. You can change this in Corel by dragging the origin in the top left corner to where you want it and releasing it.
