It seems that nowadays everybody makes a 3d-printer… but this was a bit of a surprise, as a Design Spark Mechanical user, to learn that RS are making a 3d-printer … anyhow, I thought of posting it here for comments … does it make sense to have a whole PC inside?
Wow! That seems very expensive for a 200x200x200 printer. And, as you imply, what on earth do you need PC h/w (with Windows too) running on it for?
I recently built a Hypercube Evolution which has a build platform of about 320x320x300. It runs Klipper on a Raspberry Pi and a cheap single board RAMPS (MKS Gen) - Total cost was about $650. Even built with a Duet WiFi and top-notch components from E3D etc. it would cost less than $1000.
Also mine has WiFi. Can’t believe this one doesn’t for that price. Only Ethernet mentioned.
I think most people just use a BBB or Raspberry Pi as an integrated computer. Duet is a solid option for web control.
