It’s coming along. So far everything hooked up works. But not everything is hooked up yet. I think I am finally done fabricobbling little bits, and pieces for this project. The final straw was the bit of homemade DIN rail I made for the relay base to sit on. I probably have some kicking around. But I don’t know where to look for it. So it was quicker to just bend a bit up.
Is that an old PC case? If so, nice idea.
@Jonathan_Ransom
Thanks. Yes it is an old PC case. I’m far from the first to do it. I’ve seen others use old PC cases as cabinets for DIY CNC machines. Now having gotten this far with it I can see some of the downsides to going this route. I probably should have picked a slightly bigger case. I’m getting everything in this one, but it has been a bit of a puzzle to manage it.
I had to do some modifications to get what I wanted in the case too. The only thing that dropped right in is the parallel port DB-25 connector.
Love the case idea…
@Juan_Aguero
Well, it isn’t my idea. I’ve seen others do it. I think it is going to come out OK. It is a lot more work than I initially anticipated though. I slapped my first setup together a lot faster. This project is taking me a while to finish. I think I might have built my whole machine in less time than this? But the electronics was so crappy I never even took any pictures of it.
Now I am going back and doing things I should have done to begin with. But originally I just wanted my machine to run.
Looking good Paul.
I think there’s even still enough room to cram all that spare wire on the left in.
@marmil
that pile is my happy wire hunting ground. Well, the bit that I keep in my workshop. There’s more out in the storage shed. I spend an inordinate about of time scrounging through my junk looking for materials when I build things.
I’m right there with you. Yep, the right wire for the project is coiled up in there some where.
@marmil
I almost had to settle for another color other than violet. But I found a couple scraps that did the trick. The colors were ultimately determined by what was left on the Molex connector I used. Although right off the one connector I did use a bit of blue on that line. I didn’t have any solid violet wire. Blue, violet, close enough.
