It’s Smoothieboard 2 Pro question time!
I know that “when” is denied word, so: is beta-testing about to start or started? How’s total progress?
At this point, we have proto-boards being assembled, we have at least one board with enough components to test firmware on ( but not print ) and complete boards nearly assembled.
On the firmware side, I have Smoothie2 to the point where it can generate steps, actuate switches etc. I’m still missing a lot of things, but if I had a working board ( which we will have soon ), I could technically CNC mill with it.
Still a lot to do, but making good progress
@Arthur_Wolf is there any feature list or any other information, what the differences, changes, advantages will be?
@Hakan_Evirgen there was at least cool picture and pack of comments here and there. Pro’s main advantage is Intel Edison.
and many steppers
@Arthur_Wolf Are the steps you mentioned generated by the FPGA or still by the LPC43XX?
@Bouni The FPGA does nothing at this point. It will.
@Ross_Bagley Mostly generating steps for the stepper drivers with insane speed and smoothness. It’ll probably be able to do laser engraving, and heater control too.
Arthur is there anything that the community could do to help you move forward faster with the beta phase?
@James_Zatopa Right now the limitation is : nobody has hardware to test on. As soon as things progress a bit more, we’ll do a batch of beta boards so people can get those and help.
which hardware is needed to test it?
@Hakan_Evirgen Anything with a LPC4337 in it is the basics. Then you need stepper motor drivers etc connected to that.
