ITS WORKING! Stacking prints is totally working! I’m doing this from now on.

Are you using simplify3d and changing the z location for some parts?

@Robert_Hirsch  exactly :sunglasses:

The supports looked like simplify.

Stacking seems like a great idea. When I print with PLA my supports bond too well to bother with this, but in PETG my supports peel off with ease. I’ll have to try the same in PETG! :slight_smile:

@Jared_Eldredge with the right settings PLA can peel off very easy

@John_Ecker_GeoDroidJ I’ve struggled with PLA supports, but I print with some high temp PLA (235C). PETG was perfect on my first try (though even higher temp at 260C).

[EDIT: sorry, not clear there. PLA supports came off ok with lower temp PLA, but the high temp stuff is so much better overall that I don’t bother with low temp anymore. High temp only issue for me is removal of supports. I think the temp plays a role: layer adhesion is so strong at the higher temp that I can’t even break off the purposely weaker supports]

@Jared_Eldredge have you tried allowing for more gap layers. My low temp comes off with 1 gap layer you may need to go to 2 or 3 to see the results you’re looking for.

@John_Ecker_GeoDroidJ I’ve increased the gap enough to affect the next model layer, but they still adhere too well. I’m sure I could experiment more and find some setting that works best, but with PETG coming off so easily I decided to just switch to that for most prints anyway

PETG supports come off so easily they often stay on the bed when I pull the model off. The interface where the model meets the support structures is smooth without any artifacts on it. It’s just beautiful.
(I use makergeeks “maker PETG”)
