I've been building a little something. I'm calling it the Cranestyle Mini.

I’ve been building a little something.

I’m calling it the Cranestyle Mini.

Awesome! What surface you gonna print on?

@raykholo check it out!

@Griffin_Paquette Once I’ve added a heat spreader and countersunk the holes, I have a piece of spring steel I’ll put over the top that will have PET tape, like you can see on the Bukito next to it.

Oh is this that tiny CR-something hotend off ali?

No synchro mesh this time? Looks like spring steel is gaining some popularity

@raykholo Yeah, CR8. Gonna give it a try.

@Step_Cia Nope. I haven’t built a machine with belts (haven’t finished building one, anyway) since the Reprap Wallace. I want to make some real comparisons, and I also wanted something with more steps/mm.

I love crane style. Any good source where to get those spring steel?

@Whosa_whatsis genuine belts or knock-offs?

@Step_Cia I get it on amazon.

@Ryan_Carlyle They’re genuine GT2. They’re actually old CupcakeCNC stock. When it was discontinued, MBI sold “grab bags” of surplus parts, and the belts I used on this came from those. Finding a use for all those 196-tooth belts was one of my reasons for going so small.

I think I need one:-) love little printers

Pretty complex design. How does it print?

It doesn’t print yet. I’m still working on wiring. I just did the first test moves, and so far, so good.

Cute little guy, isn’t it?

very nice. i think i make one. Can u share your design?

@Quoc_Anh_Le Files will be posted once I finalize some stuff.

@Whosa_whatsis oh very nice. But i think if you share file, some people will do it with u make it better.

Got a lot of interest at Maker Faire, so I’ve gone ahead and posted the files in their current state. Not final, and it will be hard for anyone to build one until I put together a BOM and maybe some instructions, but they’re there for those who want to take a look.
