I’ve been curious about 3d printing for years, been researching, decided to give it a try, I bought a creality ender4 and a flsun delta. The creality won’t connect to any of my computers and the flsun just got shit thrown at it. Pieces came off, I’m so frustrated, I’ve got a hammer wondering why the fuck I decided on this hobby? After two weeks of driver errors and shit, with no tech support, these things might end up in the trash
Well you could do what I do and NOT connect your printer to your PC. I simply use a micro SD card so the 2 don’t have to communicate. As for the one that had pieces come off, just fix it. 3D printing can be a lot of fun but it comes with plenty of frustrations. Same goes for other hobbies. I am also into RC cars. I have a couple grand wrapped up into them and it can be really frustrating when something breaks. But that’s part of having a hobby. You work through the issues the best you can.
I have the world’s fastest ax10? Clocked it at 65, took me two years ! I fixed the parts. Gonna take a break from printers for a day or two. Having a core xy machine that I can’t load the profiles on because windows forced users into new os. And none of my machines run on windows 7? They sold it saying windows? Not will not work with windows 10? I managed to load it with an old emachine, but it’s so shitty, won’t even load a print!
@DayRider76 what’s the Mainboard the printers use ?
Also, I’m surprised how many decide to get really cheap printers from a far away country and expect to get tech support when they don’t work. It’s going to cost you a lot more ff you want something that “just works” out of the box and where you can get good tech support if it doesn’t. That doesn’t apply to just 3d printers.
Now you’re going to have to get a lot more specific with the issues you’re having if you want us to be able to help you fix the problems.
There is no reason to use Windows at all for 3D printing. At least there is no need to attach the printer directly to a Windows PC. Just put a raspberry pi with OctoPi between them and use the browser of your choice to control it. On a side note, Linux does work with all printers I know of, no need to install any drivers. IMHO Windows is for gaming only.
@Daniel_Stauffer I don’t know, not labeled?
I’ll borrow my son’s raspberry pi tonight,
@DayRider76 can you post a pic?
Yea, I’ll open it up after work
@Gerald_Dachs if I didn’t play games I’d probably use Linux…
That’s an atmega2560 with ramps comboboard I think. the drivers should come installed together with the Arduino ide which is used to flash the firmware on this type of board. Have you installed the Arduino ide?
Edit:
Some Chinese boards don’t work with the original drivers. So you would have to download the CH340G driver pack from here:
http://wch.cn/download/CH341SER_ZIP.html
Corrections are welcome.
Yes I have arduino, then I’ll need to find the correct path, and marlin settings
I have the ch340g, I keep running into driver errors from the 3.o usb? Keeps telling me to use a 2.0, then I run trouble shoot, and is says fixed, then if I change anything, I have to do it again?
You can also try this driver.
This is the ftdi f232r for ender printers. I can’t tell if it’s the same as the other one though. Do you actually change to a USB 2.0?
Also I would suggest to always have Linux machine on the backhand, just in case none of the windows solutions work. Like the other users here suggested. That’s what I do at least. And also, you actually don’t want to print via USB. Most people with printers report the same: in mid print windows will just update ruining your print. Octopi is the better solution for that. Or the plain and simple sdcard.
I have an old desktop that has all of the older hardware and programs I got it to connect to the ender, I think I’ll just run it offline as an interface remotely through a router
@Daniel_Stauffer I just sent the driver recommendation to my main pc. Time to work on the ender. The flsun kossel? I did the marlin set up as recommended by flsun. Went step by step, must be a translation gap, the printer just ripped the rods out with the home command. I know it’s a stepper reversal issue, but now the board won’t accept commands from marlin and the screen is blank? This is what I get? Two printers at once
Did you try to flash a new firmware? It would be very helpful if you could describe step by step what you did.
