I’ve been playing round with the idea of adding bluetooth to everything (got a bunch of HC-06 modules for under $5 ea) but was stumped at the thought of programming for a phone or tablet… I just don’t have the experience to write a nice GUI app. Then I found this range of BT serial apps on Google Play, that allow you to fully customise the buttons to pass commands through to my Arduino lamp app. app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=NEXT%20PROTOTYPES&hl=en

So, by tomorrow I hope to have a functioning bluetooth-controlled lamp!

As a n00b, I am fully expecting some of you smarter programming types to tell me about some cool tool you know of that will allow me to write an Android App to do exactly what I want without it looking like a 1970s teletype  - hint, hint.

Hi you could also check out MIT app inventor it’s drag and drop and easy to use you can get a template here to get you going http://www.whatakuai.com/bluetooth-and-app-invent

Hi @Janine_Mccullough . I knew someone was going to bring up ‘easy to use’ MIT app inventor. I tried that and couldn’t get past opening the app up - I couldn’t work out what to do…

Great, now I have to add BT to my project. Thanks :slight_smile:

Check out the funkboxing bluetooth fastled sketch its pretty awesome.

That was the impetus for this.

That, and my Dad wanted BT for his Kontiki.
