I've been printing on Bukos for nearly two years now and never had glass

I’ve been printing on Bukos for nearly two years now and never had glass shatter due to heat. Then boom, it happened. I just transported this machine and one platform nob got unscrewed a bit too much…curving the glass. Nothing traumatic but it looks wicked.

I went through 4 pieces of varying thickness glass until I got a drop piece of neoceramic glass from a fireplace repair store. That thing is 3/16 thick and would take a truck to crack it.

3d printer used as a glass cutter?

I use a piece of glass cut from a glass shelving unit. Seems sturdier than window glass.

Pyrex anyone?

I use a marble tile. Works, but it’s a bit too thick. Takes a while to heat up. Super flat though.

Not marble. Granite. Sorry.

I went through 3 pieces of glass in one day! Rough day. Binder clip was too strong and was flexing the thin window glass and trying to take it up to ABS heat was a problem.

Very cool photo! I’ve never had glass break from printing or heating, but I’ve had a few shatter while trying to remove a stuck print. These days I mainly print on sheets of metal, which I can flex to remove prints.

Try aquarium glass

Pretty cool looking. Could make a neato art piece on a wall.

I can see why Garolite is used on the Bukito. I do noit see how this failure mode could happen.
