I've been printing the nasa socket wrench for a while now and I use

I’ve been printing the nasa socket wrench for a while now and I use it as a way to check everything is aligned and as it should be. I believe that it is the print that is actually as significant as the media made Cody Wilson’s designs out to be just because of what it is and why it was designed. The question I’ve been asked almost every time is, does it only go one way? My answer is always yes it was designed that way. ( while in my head I’m thinking: wtf don’t you understand the significance of this and what goes into printing one of these) so to stop people from asking me I modified the original a bit and made that it takes a shaft that can be printed separately and pushed through so it does go both ways… happy now…

Yeah, this is typical. You spend hours designing something unique and clever, and when you show off the first test print (from scrap/old filament) people say: “sure that’s nice, but does it really have to be in that colour?”. Happens far to often :neutral_face:

@Randal_Childress you should ask in a new post. But yes it can be done easier and probably more functional that you think.

@Randal_Childress
not only with 3d printing : for restricted use it should be ok with a well studied design …

Did you put it on thingverse?

I did that a while ago. It’s in youmagine. Search yeggi next time and save yourself some effort.

Why not design an insert for the top side.
Then you can turn the wrench around and voila, it turns both ways.
