I've been thinking of adding the LCD screen to my Simple to free up

I’ve been thinking of adding the LCD screen to my Simple to free up the laptop. Are there choices in the LCD menu to allow you the same level of control like you find in Repetierhost (e.g. extrude, movement, turning hot end off/on, etc.)?

I tried watching a few vids online and couldn’t see the level of control.

TIA

Some. (caveat: my experience is with Marlin) You can preprogram (and heat to) ABS and PLA temps, Jog the motors in each axis manually in .1, 1 and 10 mm increments, Home the motors, turn off the motors, cooldown…you can also increase or decrease the printrate, select the SD card and select a file from a folder within it to print…I’m missing stuff, I’m sure.

thx @Mike_Miller , are they all relatively similar or best to stick with the unit sold by Printrbot?

Alternatively you could buy a cheap Android tablet and run gcodeprintr App. I have a 7" tablet for 69€ which works fine.

I dunno, I’m using a Rumba and a RepRapDiscount LCD display. The Bios contains support for a number of different options. Truth be known, I fried the SD cardslot, I use the display and controller mostly as a big emergency reset button. When things are stable, I’ll be using a Raspberry Pi and Octoprint to control it.

Excellent @Mathias_Dietz , I just went through your pages and may run out to instead get a low end Android tablet to give this a shot.
