I've decided to video blog the Tantus build as I won't get time in

I’ve decided to video blog the Tantus build as I won’t get time in the near future to write it all up. Here’s Video #1. Let me know if this is useful, people have asked me to document the process and this is the quickest way of me getting stuff online.

Continuation video here:

Perfect reason why we all need Google Glass. So we can just start building…

Yeah, I was thinking that, bout the only good reason I can think of for having them (this generation that is).

Will those ends work with belts (as in, are the .scad files parametric for things other than spectra line?)

@ThantiK There are no .scads I’m afraid. I can export pretty much any filetype apart from that - I could build parametric versions in inventor but I suspect that won’t help as nothing I know of exports to .scad anyway. (Life is too short for openscad IMO). I will happily adjust the designs to accommodate for a particular GT2 pulley diameter if you want. I’d also need to put some extra holes in the base of the end to allow the belts to loop back on themselves. Other than that, the holes for the bushings take both 8 and 10mm bushings and the roller bearing mounts take both 608 and 6900 (both 22mm diam). Assume you’re looking at a belt drive version then?

Yep, looking at a belt drive version. Unless I see that your spectra drive works ok. Could always also do spectra + a pulley to increase the diameter. I haven’t done a spectra system yet and there’s no good video on setting it up…

Spectra is looking promising; aside from the original Tantillus using it, @Richard_Horne is using it on his 3DR without any issues I’ve heard of and the pulley-idller distance must be a little more than the Tantus. I’ve got 120lb rated stuff that appears to have no stretch once it’s tightened so fingers crossed. I’d have already installed it if I could get these fucking holes drilled in the 10mm shafts. TC bits should be here next week and as long as they work, I’ll post a set-up video then. If they don’t I’ll be off to see my mate with the milling machine :|.

Good Work @Tim_Rastall , the video is very self-explaining. I’m very curious about that self aligning brass bushing, I’m happy, but not so much with SC8UU linear ball bearings that I’m using now on the BadPrinter2. You buy it from USA? is it some distributor in Europe? can you link the USA distributor anyway? thanks

Thanks @Stefano_Pavanello :). SPD-SI are the suppliers of the bronze bushings, I’ve been using them for a while now and I find them much less troublesome than linear ball bearings, they also require very little lubrication. Here’s a link: https://sdp-si.com/eStore/Catalog/Group/56
My orders usually turn up within a week and I live in NZ so I assume that europe delivery dates will be similar. The only thing to note is that they don’t always quote for shipping when you order but I’ve found there shipping costs to be reasonable. They also sell a whole bunch of other useful stuff like oversized GT2 pulleys, synchromesh, linear rails etc etc…

Thank you very much @Tim_Rastall :-), I check the link.
