I’ve encountered a .DAE file for the first time … Are there any linux utilities that will convert it into an .STL ? I don’t have a Windows machine and Meshlab seems to be a Windows only app.
The Meshlab Source is available for Linux. I’ve never used it though.
Well I’ll give it a try … The worst that can happen is that it won’t work !
@Mark_Bystry Looked into blender but the import menu did not have a DAE type import. Its late and 4:30 AM looms nearby. Will pursue this in 18 hours from now !
Seems like DesignSpark does., also sketchup will with the right plugin!? Not sure on Linux compatibility though.
@Mark_Bystry Still can’t find it in the File>Import> menu…
I think it must be an add on… but really I must sleep now. Tomorrow… I really must try using Blender though. I understand there are 3d printing features/addons in it.
I think @FreeCAD can open collada files and export .stl
MESHLAB ONLY WINDOWS??? WHAT??? I have this on my RPI too too…check in your linux repository.
FreeCAD also has DAE import.
@Mauro_Manco Thank you… I did , its there , should of looked there first before bothering the rest of you !
From your post at 19/01/14 i think you have ubuntu 12.04lts…
