I’ve finally got my Victorian goblet / face illusion printing well. 120mm high.
I’m thinking about selling 3D prints of it on Etsy – anyone have any experience of selling prints on Etsy?
Worth a punt?

Woo
Cool. What software did you use to create the design?
Sooooo nice!!! I would like to print my mom one, I still have some laybrick filament
@Jim_Wygralak Rhinoceros 3D.
The print is tricky, as most of it looks better for being a spiral-vase print (so no layer shifts, a continuous spiral). But the bottom slopes in too fast to be a spiral print, so needs to be a conventional print.
Ultimately I sliced it twice (one spiral and one not) and then spliced the start of one gcode file and the rest of another together using a text editor
Printing well? I think it’s looks great. Nice work
Wow fantasic!!! Have you got the stl file??? I want to print one
@Mark_Wheadon Brilliant! Top work, the photographs are amazing. I had some limited success on Etsy a number of years ago but it can take a while for sales to come in and I didn’t find it too lucrative an exercise really - I packed in my Etsy shop once the charges started to kick in! I cannot recall the exact economics but it is worth checking out Etsy fees before setting your prices. (Also bear in mind international postage charges as the orders I got came from the USA and I am in the UK). Of course my experience is probably not typical - I suspect that it is all a bit of a lottery and dependent on what item(s) you have for sale in your Easy shop.
On another note … have you published or will be publishing the STL file anywhere with a Creative Commons licence? I would love to have a go at this.
You should try and print something like this next, Sell them as a set. http://www.moillusions.com/people-trapped-inside-wall/
I’ve put it up on Etsy along with another design of mine – I’ll see what happens! https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/StyleByMark
As there were no signs of the STL file being made available, I had a go at drawing this up myself after some internet image searching. I don’t think that my results are as good as those of @Mark_Wheadon - love the fluted sides on Mark’s - but I have shared my file on Thingiverse http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1541337
Thank you Mark for the inspiration and idea - hope the ETSY shop is worthwhile. (I failed miserably when trying to combine GCode files for a standard version and a vase version - the angles on my thing are way too shallow for far too long).
I doubt the Etsy shop will do anything at all, but I’m giving it a go. Congrats on your design @Alan_Ryder – nice one.
