Dude, this list needs more context to be useful.
You can totally get a 3D printer for the home. Most of the people who post here will have one. Some pritners cost well north of $10,000 . You can get a Printerbot Simple, however, for $400.
You can’t print all the things you have mentioned on a home printer. You haven’t said what printer they used. You haven’t said what materials were used. This article needs work.

That would be a good start. 3D printing is an amazing technology but there is a lot of hype. There is still a lot of tinkering with everything. The stories about successful 3D printed products are usually not simple ones.
Yeah - $10K for a printer is a really high end printer. The $1K ones can do most of those -with good design. The biggest issue is print bed size and that’s as much of a problem for high dollar printers as cheaper ones.
Take a look at the Make Media annual 3D Printer survey for an overview of some of the more common low end printer models.

i loved the concept behind 3d printing robots… they basically take out beds totally out of the equation … but that’s way out there…
