I’ve tested ABS printing with PEI build platform.
Build bed consist of 0.03" PEI sheet + Al plate + PCB heater + cork sheet.
I really like PEI sheet. No more worrying about lifting issue.
It is definitely much better than kapton tape and ABS juice or hair spay.
And bottom layer finish looks better too.
What model of printer is this, I rather like the simple design!
@Bruce_Lunde Thanks, I designed it and call it Rpstik
How the PEI sheet is attached to aluminum, and where did you get it? I’m very interested of using this on my build.
Your printer looks good!
@DongWon_Han_DWONH I am most impressed then! I thought it might have been just a reprap model you customized! Are your design files available to others?
@Topias_Korpi I used double sided tape.
You can buy it from http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007Y7CYL0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks!
I really like PEI, I will be resistant to switch back to tapes, sprays, glues, wipes, etc. I won’t rule out changing again, but the bar is so much higher now that I’ve found the hold and operational simplicity of the PEI surface. I just installed it on a MendelMax 2 after running it on an Ordbot Hadron for a month, making hundreds of parts in ABS, PETG, & even some flex.
I used 3M 468MP to stick 0.03" PEI to glass.
It’s not a magic surface, but it reduces headaches immensely once you get a feel for it. But if you do try it, please take the time to experiment and get the feel for it. I think you’ll be well-rewarded.
@Bruce_Lunde I haven’t thought about it. I’m glad someone interested in my design though.
Probably, I’ll share the files once it is updated since it needs some test.
@Jeff_DeMaagd Right, I don’t worry about messing up printing on starting anymore. I just click to print and relax.
It is huge improvement to me.
This material worked well for me at first. After about 100+ hours of prints it must have degraded or something because it stopped working. I bought enough of it to cut another sheet but I decided to go back to kapton and ABS juice.
