Just a bit of fun before the big one.

Just a bit of fun before the big one. Leds can be serve art too. 24x30 matrix +esp32. I had this old frame hanging in house

Ha! Love the art frame.
Is that 16 way parallel out?

It’s the same library. Here i use only 4 outputs for so little leds it would be too much lol. But I have prepared the card for the 16 outputs. But what is nice is that I can choose the pins that I want to use for the output in that case 2,4,5,12.
I will have a 4m1.60m (12048 leds) that I am gonna build
I will use all 16 output for that to keep a good frame rate.
I am building the frame now

@Yves_BAZIN Looking great! And you’ve done awesome work building the parallel output functionality. I’ve taken a break for a couple of weeks but I want to get back at it soon and I’ll be hitting you up for help on getting both parallel output and SD card reading ability working at the same time.

For this, did you load the images on a SD card or into memory? Or are you reading from the serial port playing a slideshow from your laptop/computer?

@chad_steinglass i have put the images in memory but the SPI pins are free even using 16 outputs.
as you can select the pins you want

I woudl love to use SPIFF also but apparently there is an issue since the last update and SPIFF reading doesn’t work anymore on esp32. I had couple of answer to that in my mailbox and some tests to be done

PS: i have based my work on previous work done by others.

I can feel some interrupts issues when wifi is on I have a modified version to reduce this effect to almost nothing. I will commit when totally finished.
to totally avoid this I am thinking of two things
using a transparent latch like the hc373 or using fast SPI IC

feel free to bip me if you need help

@Yves_BAZIN Cool thanks! I played around with Jinx! control software last week, and I figure that might be an easy way to encode both GIFs and movies, as well as some more complicated graphics effects that might be beyond my coding ability, and then save them to an SD card for mobile playback.

Here’s a vid of a simple animation playing off my laptop over the serial port to an ESP8266 using 4 way parallel output driving 4 16x16 WS2812 pre-made panels (more expensive per pixel than strips, but really not that pricey - these were $25 USD each on aliexpress, so about 0.10/pixel), pixel density is 100/m

pardon the mess! I live in NYC so my living room floor has to double as my workshop!
missing/deleted image from Google+

@chad_steinglass that is really nice and neat !!! I will think about buying those too. do you have the link to aliexpress ? I have used Jinx but I think I need to have a look at it too !!
Don’t worry my living room is also my workshop

Can we see the code please

@vince_rosane the code for the painting frame ?
