Just a quick preview of my first print with a Form1.

Just a quick preview of my first print with a Form1. Ill have a proper review before long.

@Summer_Hargett What do you mean by the whole process… if you scrounge through the formlabs website you can find several videos that show how it works.
@Jervis_Bowles Im not really in a position to do that. That print above took one and a half hours to print and the resin isnt cheap.

awesome!

what can you say about the resistance of the material? is strong like the abs?

From what I’ve seen so far the machine works very well!

If you take the cover off, like in this teardown: http://www.bunniestudios.com/blog/?p=3110 could you investigate whether the laser uses an iris or not? I’m also curious as to why the laser on the Form1 seems to have 4 wires and not just 2.

Could you confirm or comment on anything in my previous post asking about the Form1?

Thanks!

@Simone_Pompei It doesnt compare to ABS for its mechanical properties. SLA is more complimentary than competitive with FDM. Its fairly flexible like nylon but snaps under pressure like PLA. Its expensive though… at least 3 times the cost of an FDM print.
@Ben_Malcheski Compared to a <$500 desktop FDM its a dream. Pull it out, plug it in, pour some resin, and start printing. Its not without its challenges… my 2nd print failed with a hardened patch of resin stuck to the tank. Ill look into your questions…

I think the laser has 4 wires because it is a “raw” diode with the driver circuit integrated into the Form 1 electronics. Two wires go to the laser diode and two wires go to a feedback diode so the driver circuit knows how to limit the current to the laser diode.
