Just an idea born out of frustration with bowden. Bondtech is on the way to replace titan so I will try that with regular current bowden setup first.

A quick render of what I have in mind. the extruder is on separate x axis. Additional x motor can be either spliced and shared same driver or connect to additional driver and slaved. This is done in hope to isolate any negative effect of having the extruder and motor mounted directly on single overhang x arm.

any feedback and thought welcome. who know this might not be necessary after all because of #bondtech we’ll see

I would recommend against that idea. Just mount the motor so it hangs over the backside of your current rail. This will help balance the weight a bit while not making things super complicated. With the right offset you could have two heads.

Why don’t you just use a bigger/stronger X arm? Seems a lot easier.

to change to a bigger x arm would require mountain plate redesign for both Z and X gantry… it would certainly make thing look more bulky that way.

Better yet, use a Nimble! (Sorry, could not resist. Ignore at your pleasure)
