Just got in my Fleks3d build plate from Kickstarter. I like looking at stuff on Kickstarter but never really like putting in pledges due to all the bad things I hear about, however I pulled the trigger on this just to try it out and I must say it works pretty good. ABS and PLA sticks pretty good to it and prints come off pretty easy.

The only negative is the plate is too thick that my inductive probe can’t detect the metal print bed to perform auto leveling. I had to do things old school such as leveling the nozzle/bed manually.

Go back and leveling manually is something I don’t see myself doing for long. Once I get my inductive sensor to detect the metal bed and if it works, I’ll continue using it and come up with an updated review.

Just wanted to share my two cents in case anyone was looking at this product.

Thank you for info about induction auto levelling probe problem (important for me), will stay with BuildTak on Alu bed.

Did you not get the auto bed level puck they offered? It has a chunk of metal that allows the probes to work.

In my case, unfortunately, we have to glue the boarder piece to our aluminum plate, but it’s a very tight fit, so I haven’t actually been able to test it just yet… but it does look nice.

@William_Steele the puck I received was made of glass. Which is the same thickness as the build plate. I find it cumbersome to use the puck while my printer performs auto leveling.

Also one note to add, it’s probably best to buy the frame with the build plate. It doesn’t make sense to use the clips that come with the simple as there’s potential that the build plate will move if you don’t secure it properly and the clips are just clunky and not aesthetically appealing.

Even though it is clunky, you should still be able to place some aluminum tape on the top so it can still be used. (I though they were metal to begin with, not sure why they didn’t do that from the start.)

As for the clip, agreed. With that said, if you can move the probe so that it can tough the clip areas, you can still use the auto bed leveling… just place a bit of that same tape on the points where the knobs are… then use the probe to touch them. (Marlin firmware allows you to define the points exactly… even if they are outside the build area, as long as the mechanical system will allow you to get to those points.)

@William_Steele yes, my next test is to use aluminum tape underneath and see. I’m pretty sure it will work.
