Just got two of these at school. I’m in charge of setting them up. All of our other printers are 1.75 filament though. Should I switch it to 1.75?

Not a bad idea for the sake of uniformity. My school has a TAZ5 that I was in charge of as well, but we didn’t switch to a 1.75 extruder and that lead to some confusion for the non printer savy students

Yes change it, it makes sense, Its pretty cheap to convert over anyways, and this is is how https://3dprint.com/106974/convert-lulzbot-mini-filament/

I thought only the Ultimachines 2 came configured with 3.0 anymore. Is there any reason Lulzbot hasn’t switched to 1.75?

There are some advantages with 3, it’s better with flexible filaments for example.

I would leave it as-is and use it. One less thing to worry about going wrong. Part of the draw to this machine is that it works out of the box without needing anything done to it. That’s my 2 cents on it. I’ve put several rolls through mine already without a hiccup one. I’ve gone to an octopi so I don’t need a PC connected to it anymore. That’s about it.

Would leaving it at 3mm filament and having a wide nozzle hole allow for quick prints?

This thing is fast as it comes. But I don’t know what the build times are on the smaller filament either. I know when it first came out it was running rings around the older gear. I’m sure others have been catching up since. But yeah the default numbers without tweaking anything, using the Cura that comes with it, it gets it done in a hurry.

I would let them be at 3mm as they came, I don’t see any reason to change them as they are already configured for that…

Use labels on the 3mm filament if you must.

It looks like it will probably stay 3mm for now. I like the bot but man is it expensive for the small build area. Definitely gonna have to set up some type of untethered printing with it. It was a total surprise when I walked in as I didn’t know they were coming
