Just installed the new e3d v6 heaterblock+thermistorcartridge.

Just installed the new e3d v6 heaterblock+thermistorcartridge. This is awesome! Love it!

What is all over the heat sync? Looks like it would suppress the heat dissipation of the heat sync.

@PrintinAddiction
Thats ABS vapor gunk ;D No problem at the fan-shroud theres not gunk ^^

Ah, I haven’t tried ABS, does that happens just from printing it or are you vapor smoothing it also?

@PrintinAddiction
No thats only from printing. Its not only ABS but some others too. But not on PLA or PETG. I brush it off from time to time.

Get the same from Printing PETG, tbh.
Taking it was a nice easy install @VolksTrieb ?

Well had to solder the new connector (for the thermistor) to my cables but beside that its a dream. Reads the temp much nicer now. Can turn my Fan on full power and it holds the temp up to 260°C. Before it somehow blew the thermistor cold (which would result in too high temperature at the nozzle).
Back to the installation: Yes stick the cartrige in and tighten the grubscrew (but carefully) and your done :wink:

@Ax_Smith-Laffin on my testing machine i had the same thing happen with petg.
it does not happen anymore (with the same material and settings), by changing 2 things - first was the first layer height and material. when printing on blue tape / capton i could never get a realy perfect 1st layer but ever since i moved to modpodge on the aluminum bed and optimized layer height i get p0rn worthy first layers (i can take pictures if you’d like).
that took care of about 70% of the problem, but it wasn’t completely gone.
when i added the z hardening bracket and thrust bearings the rest was gone too. printing at 240u now it’s comparable to some commercial machines printing at 50u the layers are so smooth and tight (can also take pictures)

@Tom_Keidar - it’s not so much on the block as on the layer fan assembly. It got the same thing with @colorFabb_Filament 's NGEN. Not something I worry about tbh. It’s a lot less on the FB2020+ due to the 12mm Z rods. I’ve misplaced the bearings for the 12mm Rods on the FB2020 moving house. I’m going to throw some 12mm Nylon Bridge bushings at it when I have some down time. Which won’t be for a couple of weeks as my work print queue is huge atm and I’m loathed to use the Migbot Prusa i3’s asI can’t get as good a quality out of them.

Going back to the Z, I’m actually noticing bed levelling issues on the FB2020 when comparing it to the FB2020+. I’m printing a lot of stuff at 80µ atm and it’s a bitch to get the first layer right. Compare that with the plus and it’s a breeze, so once I’ve got it upgraded it should be less dust as well as easier to level.
