Just looking at @E3D-Online 's website and it seems that the v6 socks have had an upgrade, it no longer covers the Nozzle, which is where I found most of mine failed and I go through about 1 a month over 4 printers, this should sort that issue.

I never understood the reason for the covers, what do they do? Ive had mine for a year or so and still nice and shiny.

@Matthew_Del_Rosso if you have boogers or other artifacts from prints they c an stick to the heat block. The cover literally just covers it to protect it from them as far as I know

@Griffin_Paquette so it just keeps it clean, ok good to know

@Matthew_Del_Rosso - they help with temperature stability (think high cooling applications) alongside keeping the block cleaner. They don’t necessarily keep it totally clean but it helps a lot when you print a lot of PETG and Copolymers like I do where it likes to stick to the block and nozzle. The only issue with the original socks was that it could get torn easily if you hit part of the print that has failed slightly and is sticking up. This fixes that issue as all the older style socks I’ve used have failed from around the nozzle hole.

@Ax_Smith-Laffin ahh i see

Lol i ned this upgrade!! So great

I liked the old version, at least for my Prusa since the mount keeps the sock on no matter what and it keeps the nozzle pristine.

I find that PETG usually built up on the nozzle not the heater block, so this version might seem to be less useful but more durable.

Just yesterday i lost a chunch of the sock on the nozzle part. Idk what happened but the print still came out great. I may give these a try i dont feel like having pieces of silicon stuck inside a print in translucent filament lol

It keeps all clean and cover block if you use second/area cooling fan etc. (handy for detailed prints with PLA).

Im gonna do some light maintenance on my printer so ill be installing my last sock. Gonna buy 3 more and 3 of these and see which one i like better lol

@Dont_Miyashita Aye, however I still find I get a small amount of burnt plastic on the nozzle even with the old style sock, so I don’t think this will make too much of a difference.

The nozzle covering does keep it clean but it’s not going to last that long until it look like the new version.

@brian_whittle pretty much, aye. At that point it’s time to replace it.

@Lukas_Mathis sure but not clean result :slight_smile:

@Lukas_Mathis nice info Thanks you!

@Lukas_Mathis great!
