Just put together a sort of mini review on the Formlabs Form1. Includes my 9mm tall Zombie Hunter. CnC always welcome.

Interesting. Thank you.

The mini zombie hunter is impressive.

This is incredible. I finally know what my company needs.

Very nice to finally see some information coming out regarding these! Next time someone asks about the Form 1, I’ll point them to your page.

I always feel the urge to bring attention to the b9creator when I read about the Form1… Better output(50µm xy resolution vs 300µm), a tad cheaper when bought as a kit (ok, $1700 more than F1 when assembled),
faster (depending on the model) and open source(!)

I always feel the urge to bring attention to the mUVe from makerjuice.

Anybody made any complete comparison between these machines?

Thanks for the writeup, good insight

DLP based SLA machines seem like such a hack to me and while the B9 might be open source, have you ever seen someone make one from scratch? Hopefully the Make crew did a side by side b/c I’d like to know about the layer times. I suspect they are about the same or slightly favor the Form 1 b/c of the UV laser. Overall I’d like to see the DIY group latch on to SLA and see what we can do with it. The Form 1 is outstanding for a first-gen machine. As always, early adopters will be punished…

None that look like a b9, but some that work like one. I’m building one myself currently with @Mike_Joyce 's sliding mechanism.
Layer times vary extremely, depending on the model and the resin. A well running b9 with makerjuice or spot-a materials resin seems to need ~5s for a 50µ layer.
As for hack… well with quality like that, the looks of the machine don’t really matter to me
