Just revisited my sharpie tool head. Any ideas for better absorbing filament / ink combinations, besides nylon / dye? Have some SOLAY (Rubber-Lay) laying around here but this was a nightmare to print last time.
I love it. A number of people use sharpies on the filament before it goes through the extruder. I see no reason not to do it afterwards instead.
Can you swap sharpies and do multiple additional colors?
I can swap the shapie manually when the extra head is parked. And I’m looking forward to add a 3rd printhead later this year (but this requires switching to new electronics) The problem with coloring is that the ink not really pentrates the material. More porous stuff would work better.
What if you added a touch of acetone to the sharpie ink when printing ABS? The acetone, should let the ink penetrate the ABS a little while it eats it ever so slightly. Or more than slightly if you add too much acetone to the sharpie.
