Just tried skienforge (sfact) and got great results… Dimensionally better than slic3r, smoother layers, too. Only weirdness is this gap in every layer… Any suggestion? It doesn’t show up in the Gcode paths…
There’s a reason @nop_head still uses skeinforge still. It produces the best results around once you learn to tame it. It’s biggest flaw is its slowness to slice models. Maybe @nop_head can help with this problem
Could it be a problem with the stl?
The seam might be due to retract settings not being optimised. Turn on Jitter and set it to something like 10 to see if it randomises it.
Retract and restart amount different? Or “clip” turned on (if that is part of sfact)?
Is there a HOW-TO for it? I opened it’s config, saw a wall of options, and scooted back to Kisslicer…
Turns out it was the clip setting (1.0) combined with the Maximum Connection Distance Over Perimeter Width. http://fabmetheus.crsndoo.com/wiki/index.php/Skeinforge_Clip I disabled these and no gap at all…
Yeah…
Clip is a fudge-setting… Clip will only work in your favor if you have retraction dialed in incorrectly or a similar problem (that should be corrected rather than turning on clip).
