Just wanted to post as @Ryan_Carlyle found, Rebecca Lanen is promoting a site and is marking all negative comments on her post (https://plus.google.com/u/0/113431698297045906895/posts/ScHCK8fdp9a) as spam and calling anyone who calls her out a troll. Since all my comments get deleted, I’m posting this to general discussion for all to be aware. Ryan’s original comment:
It looks like “Rebecca” is a sock puppet account doing a soft launch / market research / marketing campaign for these guys. There’s blank social media accounts across multiple platforms with this name, with no activity other than asking what people think about this website. No prior presence online in any 3d printing contexts.
Pretty bad form for a new user to call one of our valued community members a troll in their first 3 comments. If it happens again let me know, next time will result in a ban.
@Rebecca_Lanen not sure anyone was bullying you per say. Was there reasoning as to why Adam’s comments were removed? It is reasonable for Mods to trust someone who is extremely active in the community, as that is precisely the definition of trust.
Sorry if you felt bullied in this scenario. Let’s see what we can do to resolve it.
@Rebecca_Lanen as far as Google search is concerned, your identity didn’t exist until you decided to start telling the world about makermanufacturing or whatever. On multiple new sites at the same time. You’re seriously trying to tell us that you created accounts on G+ and Google Groups and wherever else for the sole purpose of asking people what they think about a single new website, and that’s not spammy behavior? Please. Don’t play the victim here. You’re not the first spammer to sockpuppet-promote their websites.
@Rebecca_Lanen my theory is, you’re actually Jeremiah J Clifft, creator of Cobblebot (holy plot twist, batman!), and now creator of that website… pretending to be a random woman. Presumably so you get treated better on the internet instead of reviled by the community for being an asshat. Can’t prove it, though.
Another theory, “Rebecca” is actually this guy doing SEO on behalf of Jeremiah Clifft: https://www.linkedin.com/in/blanerussell/
The email he’s using to sign up on Google Groups fits. Again, can’t prove it.
Oh, and the fact that http://makermanunuwhatever.com is associated with the Cobblebot asshat who threatened to sue tons of his own Kickstarter backers? Totally disqualifies it from consideration, if you ask me.
Oh, the one who may or may not have threatened to sue me for unfair trade practices after I, again, may or may not have, hosted a forum that sounds like fobbleclop.
So basically, you end up here as a new user, start promoting a new site and then you’re surprised people get suspicious. So you just mark the negative comments as spam and on top of that threaten to report them to their employees for bullying?
Sounds like you’re the bully@Rebecca_Lanen
You deleted any comments that were considered negative from your post. That looks suspicious from my point of view. Got called out for in and I think that’s more than fair. Deleting certain comments is not something we usually see happen on 99.9% of our posts so it raises concern.
You then get upset with our members (note very long term and active members, some of which being moderators) for finding some frustration/issues with the link you shared and the fact that you deleted their comments. You getting upset with their voicing their opinions here is exactly like you censoring comments on your post. Looks like they pointed out that you’re defending a website owned by someone who was extremely negative for the community- that sucks but doesn’t merit you threatening them.
I asked you specifically how I could resolve the issue for you! You completely ignored it and then went on continuing to threaten our community members.
You may or may not be affiliated with that website. By how you acted I would say yes by trusting my gut, but regardless there’s more than enough here for me to make a decision on the matter.
Sounds like perfect grounds for a ban. And that’s what I’ve done.
@Rebecca_Lanen yeah, no. Fake identities can’t be the victim of cyberbullying. Unless you’re upset that I was mean to Jeremiah Clifft, the Cobblebot asshat? Hmm. Now why on earth could you be taking THAT personally? Hmm. HMM.
As a note I have below the comment I used to remove said member from the group: (just in case anyone wants a read)
So now my name is Jeremiah or Russell? I’ve sent a link to this post to the Maker company so they have a chance to defend themselves if they want. I’m blocking Ray Kholodovsky, Ryan Carlyle and Adam Steinmark now for cyber bullying, so you may continue trying to bully away but I won’t see it. I will also be contacting Chevron in Houston & Staples in New Jersey to talk to them about their employees cyber bullying. I will be letting your employers know that I am also contacting your local media outlets concerning the issue of their employees and cyber bullying.
I never expected cyber bullies to be so relentless. And cyber bullying must be stopped. You three should be ashamed.
And to the moderators that have let this continue, you’re just as guilty.
