Just wanted to say a big thank you to Daniel Garcia and his FastLED library!
Last Christmas (2015) I used FastLED to whip up some lights around our front door. Nothing really that special or complicated (although had some fun laser cutting an acrylic box to house the power supply and Arduino but that’s another story)
Having two young kids meant that I couldn’t spend much time on it at all, so the variety of patterns would not have been anywhere near as extensive without the library.
Working on my next project now… We have a playroom in our new extension, and I decided to install lots of RGBW “Neopixels” in the builtin storage around the TV.
Eventually I want to implement some sort of huge “Ambilight” when the TV is in use but am just using the Adafruit Library for now - and hopefully FastLED if Daniel has some time to update it to support the white LED.
Each shelf has a strip of LEDs mounted on the front lip facing backwards and the shelves are all painted white internally to reflect and diffuse the light… the uniformity is actually much better than I ever expected.
Here’s a photo taken from the back wall looking out.
I went a bit crazy to balance the 5v power out, so there’s loads of independent connections to the ends of each strip… pain to solder together in tight locations to make sure the cabling cannot be seen from all but the shallowest of angles…
(Loving cosmos too, the production is first class!) missing/deleted image from Google+
Forgot to mention that I’m using a temporary power supply that only allows me to run the LEDs with a max brightness of 100 per channel… looking forward to powering it up using my 60A 5v supply soon and blinding myself!
