Just wanted to share my new direct drive extruder. It has the mount built in to fit in the upper left corner of the Prusa I3 frame on the back side and uses the bolts from the upper left Z rod holder.
Would love to get the files if you are willing to share.
That is really nice! And great print!!! Where you direct before as the i3 is built?
@Sonex128 sure I’ll share my files. I will be installing it tomorrow night (hopefully) and testing it to make sure everything works as it should and then I will upload the files. I’ll comment on this post when they’re uploaded.
@Brandon_Satterfield Thanks… I’m really happy with the way my printer is printing but you know how it goes… Always got to try and make it better. Currently I have a geared extruder set up Bowden style but I wanted to try direct to see if I could get even better prints than I’m getting now.
That’s great @Mike_Smith I have always ran i3s either geared or direct, single and dual extruder, on the x axis. After everything my absolute best performance came from a Budda on a Wade’s, currently on an e3d on a Wade’s. Love to know how the direct Bowden works out for you.
@Brandon_Satterfield what direct extruder did you use? I’m setting up my i3 now and was going to use a wades but I’d really like to slim down to a simple direct that’s proven.
@Joe_Spanier I found a whosit based direct drive set-up on thingiverse that mounted to a x-carriage that I had printed for the Einstein invariant. I also ran the dual extrusion this same way. There are photos on here somewhere, I think.
What I found after all was said and done is the control of filament, for me, was superior in the geared set-up.
Hi Mike, i’m currently upgrading my Prusa i3 and i’m really looking forward to the design files for your new extruder and e3dv6 mount with auto-levelling. I understand you may be busy but, i’ll take anything you throw at me
Thanks!
