Just wanted to show my build progress.

Just wanted to show my build progress. All that I’m waiting on is my E3D hotend and the thermistor for my heated bed, which both should be here by Monday. I want to thank those that have helped with my various questions.

Clean wiring is always a good thing!

Lovely

Did we ever get that lathe tool printed out so you were able to make your hobbed bolt?

I printed one but the recesses for the bearings were bigger than the bearings I had. I went ahead and jerry rigged something on the drill press but I’m not happy with the result. I’m going to redesign the tool today to fit the bearings I have and maybe print it out tonight at the lab.

The biggest tip I have regarding that is that your diameter needs to be divisible by the thread pitch so you don’t get orphan teeth. I think there’s a set of taps I can probably let you use somewhere around there whenever you’re up there again.

@ThantiK Don’t you mean circumference? From what I’ve seen, those orphaned teeth tend to sort themselves out as you cut deeper (thus decreasing the circumference). It won’t be perfect if you don’t have numerical control of the angle of each tooth, but you’re already making bigger sacrifices if you’re hobbing with a tap.

Yeah, doh - I meant circumference.
