just when you get your printer working PERFECTLY! like 10 prints in a row non stop no problems perfect, I went ahead and screwed it up
. In short I didnt realize my new hotend positioning didnt have clearance, so instead of checking I went and homes the z axis. CRUNCH say bye bye to my heat break
, plus while salvaging my other parts I broke my 4th thermistor (they are to friken SMALL!!)… So anyways I have a couple of options going forward. Buy the prometheus v2 hotend (~$79 USD), bc I am already installing to the full system. Buy the new v6 to prometheus heatbreak upgrade (~$35 USD), buy the new heater block that uses the cartridge for the thirmistor and an new e3d heatbreak (~$45). Im leaning towards the heaterblock plus thermistor cartridge, but some expert advice would be nice. Nothing but the thermistor and heatbreak are broken (the irony) so i could go the cheap route and go for heatbreak plus thermistor. But the thermistors are so anoying I like the sound of the cartridge…Im confused please help, thanks
i’ve used both thermistor and cartridge on e3v6 and i would say the latter is much simpler to fit, altough i dont like the connector so close. but then neither failed so i never had to change them.
very sorry for you and your printer!
what kind of printer is this that eats its hotend with Z axis homing?
knocks on wood
my delta recently had an endstop trigger closed from I think a minor short or disconnect in a wire. one motor did not move on homing but I was there to hit emergency stop before the effector was outside the frame and everything being torqued horribly! scary! Home is not always a safe comfy place for 3d printers! Be careful everyone.
Would recommend a Lite6 and a v6 heatbreak. Gets you everything you need plus a spare nozzle and heater for $45, from Filastruder at least. Even cheaper if you follow our (Filastruder) social media and wait until Tuesday
I like how Tim is doing support on a Sunday.
I am as well.
What is with all the spam on my posts latley?? Is it just me or does it happen to everyone?
Quite common, especially more recently. And it’s that time of the day when these folks wake up.
@raykholo well Ill just keep reporting them…
Could also upgrade to a titanium E3D heatbreak too. I’d personally go with the block/cartridge upgrade. A lot easier to manage and a lot less likely to break. The new E3D Gold kit is pretty cool too.
