Kapton tape suppliers? You’d think that spending over $4k on MB Replicator 2X and lots of filament with your purchase would make them throw in a pack of Kapton tape in. I go measly 4 sheets of it with my order and I got my last one left.
My question: Can anyone recommend a supplier of similar quality Kapton tape or better than that of original that came with the printer? #kaptontape#makerbot#replicator2x
I purchased a large roll on Amazon. I tink I paid around $46. However, I wish I didn’t buy it because I went to lowes and bought 2 pieces of cut glass 9x6 and use aqua net super hold hair spray. I like that a lot better than having to replace kapton tape every time it rips. I hold it on the build plate with binder clips. All these tips I received from other people online.
Wow, you’re using glass and hairspray? The glass doesn’t break/crack from the 110C degree heat? Can you tell me how to implement the glass approach, link to the tip you found online? Thanks so much!!
@Renat_Z LOL, yes. The guy at lowes told me not to use it because it will crack under high heat since it’s window glass. I told him I would take my chances since it was only $2 and change. I love to be able to swap out the glass if a piece is stuck too tight. I took a mix of various advice online. The tip actually mentions borosilicate glass for the heated plate which I will eventually get. The glass is held down to the build plate with bookbinder clips. You also have to remember to lower you build plate. Make sure you’re careful with where you place the clips. You have to put them in the right spot to make sure you nozzle isn’t going to strike them. I’ve had that happen a couple times but now make sure the clips they are out of the way of the nozzle. Down side is you loose a little more space.
