I can’t seem to get a full print. I get about 11mm into it and the nozzle clogs, or the print lifts…I’ve raised the print temp to 245 from 230, and I’ve added a fan, but I just caught it clogging again. (pause, lift, snip the filament, extrude, continue print)
Any suggestions? It seems like a MUCH better setup than Slic3r, but it’s obviously missing something critical.
Also, there’s a slight lift of the chin off the glass, and I can’t seem to find the setting in Kisslicer to generate support. Any ideas?
(as an aside, I pulled down Cura, like the interface, it still doesn’t have my printer figured out. Kisslicer’s defaults have, by far, been the best of the three…aside, you know, from being unable to complete a print. :P)
I’d say perhaps you’re going the wrong way on the temp. PLA is supposed to be extruded around 180-190 - Also, make sure you don’t have so much fan on the thing that you’re overpowering the heater on your hot end.
I’ve had issues with anything less than 210 or so. I dunno if it’s placement, ambient temperature, or what…I’ll try it cooler (can’t hurt, at this point)
E3D or jhead? If E3D try a full torch burn out to clean. Then a dab of canola oil on filiment and run it back and forth in the hot end passage cold/off the printer. Then reinstall. Bring it up to temp once without filament. Cool down. Insert filament and extrude 100mm. I did this and not one jam since.
I’ll make a note of that…(sounds like seasoning Cast Iron!) 210-220 seems happy for a bit, 190 lays down strings of plastic that don’t look pretty, and 240-250 looks awesome for laying down the initial bed.
We use the same people as MakerBot; and sometime during January they had a new guy hired and operating the machine. We ended up having to send entire pallets back to them to be reprocessed because they were getting the mix wrong. Have you any other filament to test with?
So…I’ve completed two J-Head Groove mount parts in ABS with no extrusion problems…while the part DID warp, I’m not blaming the head for that. Iteration three is currently being printed using Blue tape and a light layer of CA glue. Thusfar it’s warp free, but it’s only about 25% finished.
Both spools of PLA (natural and orange) are MakerBot brand…it’d really suck if I got snakebit twice with two bad batches of filament.
